Creek Week is a time to discover and clean up our local streams. It has been celebrated in Durham since 2009. To date, we have collected over 163,783 pounds of litter with 3,409 volunteers.

Sunset Float
Reservation/Payment must be made prior to arrival.
Kayaks are for a SINGLE PADDLER. Canoes are for 2 PADDLERS (with 1 small adult or child non-paddler in center). PRICE IS PER PERSON.
Join Two Sisters staff on the water for a Sunset Float. We will paddle a short distance to a perfect spot for sunset viewing. Along the way we may encounter water birds and wildlife getting ready for the approaching night. While viewing the sunset, guests will be allowed to find their own space to experience the view. These paddles are great for quiet personal meditation time or relaxation and grabbing that perfect Instagram shot. We ask that guests remain mostly quiet (though we don’t expect anyone to be silent) during these trips so that all guests are able to use the float time the way that best serves them.

Lower Eno River Discovery Paddle

Paddle along the Eno River on it’s journey into the Neuse River and explore the hidden creeks and coves that are home to frogs, salamanders, and turtles. Paddle through shallow waters with hopes of catching sight of a wading bird while is hunts. Travel quietly and you may spot a deer or muskrat.

Join the Two Sisters community as we gather for fun and fellowship. This is a drop in event stay as long as you like. We will be there from 5:47-7ish.
We meet up on the Third Wednesday of each month at Crafts and Drafts (3117 Guess Rd Durham).
Crafts and Drafts has adult and non adult beverages for purchase as well as craft kits. You are welcome to bring your own food for yourself or to share (no outside beverages please).

One of the most magical times on the water is the time during the hours directing around sunset. Birds do their final calls of the night. Frogs begin to sing. Fireflies light up the trees. Owls begin their calls and activity. Everything gets just a little bit stiller.
Spend this magical time exploring the creeks and coves of the lower Eno River as it flows into Falls Lake.
Paddle lasts 2.5-3 hours and all paddling equipment is included. Guests will need to supply a head lamp or flashlight for themselves.

Our Women’s Kayaking 101 class is designed to give women and non-binary paddlers the needed foundation of skills and techniques to build your kayaking skills. These group classes are taught by women instructors and will have you on the water practicing as you learn and will allow for one on one time with an instructor so that you can get focused attention on your skills and your needed adaptions. Join other women on the water as we learn together and foster a friendship over the love of adventure.
Class lasts approximately 3-4 hours and all paddling equipment is included.

Jordan Lake is one of the best Bald Eagle viewing locations in the region. We will paddle past multiple nesting areas in search of our majestic national bird. While sighting are not promised we go to areas where they are very common. Your guide will help you identify and answer questions about Bald Eagles and other birds in the area.
Paddle lasts approximately 4 hours and all paddling equipment is included. Due to the distance of this trip, it is not recommended for novice paddlers. Space is extremely limited.

The Beaver Dam area is a designated park area that is closed to gasoline powered engines and has become a beloved destination for paddlers. Enjoy quiet coves and hidden nooks as you explore this open water area. For the adventurous spirits, take on a longer paddle and venture to the far end of the impoundment to view some of the largest beaver dams in the Piedmont. Blue Herons, Osprey, and Bald Eagles are frequent visitors to this area.

Camp meets 9am-3:30pm daily.
Camp meeting location will be in areas around Durham within 5-20 minutes drive time of Downtown Durham.
Campers will have the chance to become active members of their Durham community in this fun and engaging camp. Campers will spend the day meeting new people and learning some of the important things our community members do to keep our city moving. We will take part in community service as we move around areas of Durham and learn new ways to be engaged members of our own community.
Campers will need to bring their own lunch, snacks, and water each day. For the protection of all of our campers and staff, we ask that all campers be up to date on all vaccines as recommended by their doctor (including COVID-19 vaccine).

We ask that guests remain mostly quiet (though we don’t expect anyone to be silent) during these trips so that all guests are able to use the float time the way that best serves them.

Our Teen Adventure camp is a community DIY camp based around fun and adventure where the campers are actively involved in planning the activities they may participate in during the week as a camp team. Campers will be able to put democracy into action and vote for their favorite activities. Campers may decide to paddle and float, hike, or enjoy a day of games, or some other adventure they come up with as a team. This camp is open to teens interested in paddling at all skill levels.

Blue Herons, Osprey, and Bald Eagles are frequent visitors to this area.

Despite the best plans sometimes things happen and you end up outside of your kayak and in the water. Be a more confident paddler and a responsible paddling buddy and learn some basics of capsize recovery. Practice what to do if you or someone you are paddling with capsize in deep water. Practice self rescue and assists.

This paddle will take guest along the shores of multiple game lands areas that are popular for birds and other wildlife. We will paddle into intimate channels as we make our way through changing landscapes and geological areas. If group pace and skill allows we will make our way to Triassic basin formations. Paddle distance will be 9-14 miles.
