Two Sisters Adventure Company will be partnering with the non-profit Opportunities for Equity Outdoors for a guided hike of Horton Grove Nature Preserve as a part of Black History Month. This beautiful and unique preserve is a part of land that was once one of the largest plantations in North Carolina, Stagville. We will hike trails names for the Black families that were enslaved at Stagville and learn history of the area and the people who were forced into labor on this land. After the hike guests are welcome to explore the Stagville property just a short (less than 2 miles) distance down the road from our hike. In addition to the human history of this property this area is rich with bird and other wildlife.
Opportunities for Equity Outdoors is focused on providing free and low cost outdoor recreation and learning opportunities to make the outdoors accessible for all. Opportunities for Equity Outdoors is 501c3 tax exempt.
